Camp Hearties week 3

Camp Hearties
week 3

judged by Ben Rosenbaum & guest judge Pascale Hutton

Ben's comments will be in blue
Pascale's comments will be in red (of course)

Week 3 was a challenge and I was delighted with the results!
I will let Ben and Pascale take it from here!

Here we go!
My guest judge this week was none other than Rosemary herself, Pascale Hutton!

1st Place: Team RIP (10 pts)

Pascale: The picture of the Rosemary/Lee triplets is truly hilarious. And terrifying😜 I also appreciate the attempt to cultivate a signature look for Hickam.  Ben: Put me on that slip-n-slide right now!; Good call on Hope Valley’s eternal winter! LOL.; I could definitely be a stripes man.; Cat/Hell on Wheels/WCTH, way to bring it all together! She runs the train station now!; and last but not least, I love the names of the triplets! I think you got all the good combos!

2nd Place: Plaid Photo Bombers (8 pts)

Pascale: Bacon bandages was truly repulsive, an image forever burned in my memory.  Ben: There will be egg toss and people will be BAD at it! Ha!; You sent out the hounds to find Cat! Nice!; You have found Hickam’s limit… Oh who am I kidding? Hickam will be a diaper-changing expert.; That Bacon Bandage is horrific.

3rd Place: Hickam's Hotties (6 pts)

Pascale: Obviously I HAD to pick "Rose 'mini' Leveaux" Ben: Rose Mini Leveaux is about as cute as she could be!; The horse as a doppleganger is very clever—a can’t lose!; Nurse Faith won’t be stopped! At least she’s using festive bandages to make it fun!

4th Place: The "Rip"sters (4 pts)

Pascale: wouldn't we all love to see Rosemary's blood boil as she watched this version of 'The Reluctant Bride'.  Ben: I totally see Kevin as Kavan! Though perhaps the younger man in the picture disagrees?; Lard flavored coffee sounds like it was special ordered for Mama Thornton! Not surprised it isn’t selling well.; Cat is the new star of the silver screen! Ooooooo… burn on Rosemary!; Based on statements she’s made in the show, Rosemary would have to agree with your assessment of proper diaper management.

Following Teams each receive 2 pts.

To all the following teams from Pascale:

Thanks everyone for your creative interpretations of all the questions/challenges. I loved checking them all out.

The Plaid Pajama Hearties*
Ben: The little baby Rip is too cute.; Bonus points are in order for actually stalking a stranger and convincing them to take a selfie with you! Brava!; WCTH DVDs! Very meta!; Nice use of ! That should be some sort of bonus as well.; You gave me some real flair here, I could play Vegas in that outfit—thanks for the cape!
*-extra point received for stranger selfie! Awesome job!

The Hotties

Ben: I like the unappreciative horse in the background of the horse shoe toss… I guess Jack doesn’t know where his bread is buttered!; Yost’s entrepreneurial spirit got the better of him trying to sell surf boards, not many good waves to be caught on the fishing pond!; Great use of a quote with Nurse Faith’s bandages!; Great show reference with the catching more flies with honey! And it is somehow very satisfying to see myself in a cute Pooh costume… I’ll have to look into that further.; Where’s Cat?! Oh my! I hope not!… Oh wait, yes I get it, “Hell On Wheels”; The horse + car seats is great, gave me a good laugh!

ISotHPP

Ben: Dan does sort of look like a moose!; It’s the tug-of-war of the century! Who do you think would win?; That poor toilet paper cat made me laugh so hard, just minding its own business trying to eat some dinner.; Yost should’ve known better, HV can’t risk a cow strike.

Scouts of Hearts

Ben: Great Doogie Howser! A very handsome young Doc!; Duct tape can fix anything—and saves this gentleman a trip to get his legs waxed!; Batman does alright with the ladies, I’m into it.

Trouser's Bowsers
Ben: It takes a real man to pull off a bonnet—a Hope Valley man!; That must have been one heck of an injury! The boy’s been mummified!; Please tell me one of you actually owns that leprechaun-cowboy outfit, and then please explain why!

Heartland Hearties

Ben: Is this poor man sad about the cut or that his tie is getting all messed up?! Either way nice acting!; I think Hickam would be the bell of the ball in some plaid patch-work shorts, bow tie, vest, and top hat! It looks like Cat has stumbled into her very own game of !

Thank you to all the teams and your wonderful submissions this week! On to the final week!
Thank you to Ben and Pascale for judging! Your comments are fantastic!

Here is the standing for the teams with accumulated points from wks 1-3.

Camp Hearties week 2

Camp Hearties
Week 2

judged by Ben Rosenbaum & Guest Judge Andrea Brooks

Ben's Comment will be in blue
Andrea's comments will be in purple

Week 2 was a lot of fun and the theme was All About The Boys. I will let Ben and Andrea take it from here!

I had some surprise help this week in the form of a guest judge... Andrea K Brooks (aka Nurse Faith) who graciously agreed to help me rank/offer comments. The results are as follows:

1st Place: ISofHPP (10 pts)

Andrea: I love the edit of Jack with the Moose. Also big points for the picture of Lee’s shortened pants! Very funny and creative. I love it. Ben: I love the cookie crime scene! Bill’s Britches! The drawing of Lee’s pants (because you know Rosemary’s economizing always hits Lee hardest)
2nd Place- Hickam's Hotties (8 pts)

Andrea: The engagement ring alternative made me laugh out loud, and I’m a fan of Jack’s new mode of transportation. Standing on a unicycle?! Well done. Ben: Bill’s Eye, that whole sign is genius (all the way down to the creative use of an upside-down 7 for the second “L”). 3rd Place: Plaid Photo Bombers (6pts)
Andrea: Big points for the dog who got stuck in plaid, and the Altoids next to the holy water! Very creative. Ben: Frank caught a lot of rings this week, but this one stood out—poor Charles 😂. Very sweet looking dog, though obviously an innocent bystander with a face like that.
4th Place: The Plaid Pajama Hearties (4pts)

Andrea: I really like the overlapping/cartoon layout on this one. I also like the idea of gifting Rosemary a mirror. Well played. Ben: A very dedicated submission, from hand-drawn original art, to an elaborately staged crime scene, and the photo of Abigail with all the beauty supplies was a good combo—made me chuckle! Following Teams each receive 2pts The Hotties
Andrea: Shakespeare and a crown for Rosemary? Pretty much sounds like the ultimate gift to me. ;) Very fun!
Ben: Nice CLUE reference! And great layout.
Scouts of Hearts
Andrea: Jack’s new ride is hilarious!! Good one!
Ben: I was mesmerized by the artwork of Brownie in a ziplock bag—how did you do that?! That Hope Valley Playhouse is great!

Trouser's Bowsers
Andrea: Big points for the Harry Potter broom! Quidditch anyone?
Ben: Cat hair mysteriously appearing in a dog bed is exactly the kind of case Bill needs to be solving! LOL
Heartland Hearties
Andrea: Bill Avery’s business sign is amazing! Love the badge.
Ben: Really nice gift to Rosemary, and great use of show specifics—the sheet music on the piano? Awesome!

Team RIP
Andrea: Giving Rosemary her own vanity mirror is a hilarious and adorable idea. Also, the plaid ‘bad man’ sign… Well played! Ben: Your ring replacement is creative and specific and oh so romantic, and Jack’s new ride is great—nice use of the show info! Fun and funny photoshopping.

The "RIP"sters
Andrea: I love the layout. The economical use of toilet paper made me laugh, as did the alternate mode of transportation.
Ben: Really great stuff! The Henry Gowen file cabinet, the Rip tag as the ring, and saying “free consultations for widows” on Bill’s sign is a nice touch.

Wonderful job to ALL the Teams! I am delighted every week by your entries!
Thank you so much Ben and Andrea for your wonderful comments! Just wait until you see week 3!
Here is the scorecard after week 2!

Camp Hearties Week 1

Camp Hearties
Week 1

Week 1 is done and all the Teams did an amazing job!  I will let our judge, Ben Rosenbaum, take it from here.

Very fun! And not at all easy to rank them, I had to make some tough decisions in the end. Every team did a really nice job, so following the judging guidelines I can say this: a clean presentation is very helpful right off the bat, but mostly it was a combination of creativity and humor that won the day—the most unique submissions also tended to be the funniest, and being different naturally made them stand out. That said, my selections were as follows:

1st Place: Hickam's Hotties (10pts)

They really scored high in all departments (Creativity, Originality, Presentation, Humor, and Thinking outside the box), I’ll probably catch some grief because of their name, but they won fair and square! Their presentation is very clear and clean, each of their submissions is unique and original to their team, and they made me laugh with their specifics! 2nd Place: The "RIP"sters (8pts)
They organized their submissions very clearly, which is appreciated, and they showcased their sense of humor (plus they managed to fit in a cute baby AND a cute dog!) 3rd Place: Heartland Hearties (6pts)
Nice presentation, and they got very creative in finding their letters in common objects! 4th Place : Scouts of Hearts (4pts)
Very nice presentation, particularly with the sign-language (Beautifully done!). I also really liked the “Pen of Secrets” Places 5-10 : 2 pts. each Trouser's Bowsers
Great found objects for the “Hearties” letters, and maybe the best pot-stirrer The Plaid Pajama Hearties
Beautiful Hand-drawn crest for Jack! And fun photo-shopping the team members into Hearties!
Team Hotties

Great captions! They really help give the pictures context, overall nice creative work (and good doves!) Team RIP
The first “E” in Hearties is impressive! How many people did that take? Very cute wearable plaid. Team ISotHPP
Congrats on the Plaiduation! I love the security blanket.

Plaid Photo Bombers

The porcupine is a perfect security blanket for Gowen!

Thank you Ben for your wonderful comments and for the judging!  We will see you all next week for Round 2!  Here is how the team's stand going into week 2.

Good Luck Campers!
